The idea behind creating treetop cabins and other accommodation options started with the landowners Karoline and Magnus. They wanted to offer a sustainable accommodation option in the village. This had to be connected to their future dreams for the smallholding and maintain a high standard of execution within "green frameworks."

The smallholding owners explored many different alternatives before they decided to collaborate with family friend and treetop cabin enthusiast Jon.

Not only did they share a common interest in accommodation experiences, but they also had a deep passion and knowledge in areas such as recycling, renewable energy, nature conservation, wildlife and outdoor activities, as well as experience in tourism and working with people. After a weekend stay exploring the area around the smallholding Tvigyva, they all began researching how to build a treetop cabin with a primary focus on sustainability. This greatly influenced the entire startup and project. The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals

Karoline is a social worker with a passion for green care, both for people and nature. She is the one you'll meet at all our "back-to-nature" experiences.

Karoline is a passionate soul with an exciting and varied background. She has many years of experience working with children and youth, a love for outdoor activities, four years of education in communication and self-help, training in craniosacral therapy, and spent a year at a school in Sweden where she studied self-sufficiency.

Karoline also holds a variety of roles for both the Treetop Cabins and the smallholding Tvigyva. Her permanent roles for Lårdal Treetop Cabins include communications manager with responsibility for social media, course instructor, operator of the "nature therapy" concept, and owner of the smallholding and its offerings for visitors. Karoline has been a major part of the development of "Elvehytta" and is a handy woman.

Magnus' background in carpentry, tourism, and interest in sustainable living laid the foundation for the building planning.

Magnus has previously worked in the family business, Viking Ventures, handling complete renovations of houses and properties, at Langedrag Nature Park in tourism, and in various roles within social work. Today, he lives with Karoline and all the animals at the smallholding Tvigyva in Lårdal. Here, he manages the Prøven Husky kennel with 12 polar dogs.

Magnus’ roles for Lårdal Treetop Cabins and the smallholding Tvigyva are many and exciting. He is registered as the self-builder and architect for the "Elvehytta" project, responsible for website content, activity leader for visitors, handyman, and the point of contact for any questions related to all of these areas.

Jon is the technical member of the team with an education in IT. He is also an outdoor enthusiast who actively participates in diving, particularly in caves, where he is also an instructor.

Jon has many irons in the fire and is the owner of several exciting businesses. He is a co-owner of Oslofjorden Adventure, runs Runde Consult, and is an active visitor/helper at Langedrag Nature Park, where he handles everything from technical tasks to animal care, guiding, and dog sledding.

Jon's tasks have included the development of "Solbui" with renewable energy, made from recycled materials, and all the technical solutions that ensure a seamless stay. He has also been a significant part of the carpentry team, responsible for safety, equipment, and green solutions for transporting materials into the forest and up into the trees.
